Q. Is the power Powder HE rated?
Short answer –
HE Rated is a 3rd party test done to measure and confirm suds-ability. Our product does not contain heavy surfactants or foaming agents. Therefore, we have nothing to rate. It is safe for HE machines and depending on the machine can be used in a premixed liquid or a powder.
Long answer –
HE or High Efficiency Detergents do not appear to be currently regulated or certified by EPA.
The manufactures of HE machines have partnered with detergent manufacturers to recommend and in some cases mandated a certain brand of detergent with a HE rating for warranty purposes. There are some 3rd party certified or rated products out there - but the HE rating really has to do with suds-ability.
HE machines use less water and do not rinse away soapy residue like traditional machines. Therefore, regular detergents with a foaming agent cannot be used in a HE machine.
Our Love It laundry & cleaning product does not contain a high foaming or heavy surfactant. In fact, there is almost no suds-ability to it all and any suds that do appear is a result of the wetting agents activating the ingredients. It is not soapy.
The benefit to our product as opposed to one of the HE detergents is we do not promote mold and mildew growth in our product because there are no animal fats. There are cases where some of the HE machines hold a slight amount of water wash after wash and begin to get that musty dishwasher smell to them; with Love It laundry & cleaning and a rinse cycle in HOT WATER the smell will go away. Regular use helps to prevent this from happening all together.
The best way to use Power Powder in a HE machine is to mix a 4 oz scoop of powder into a recycled Gallon Milk Container filled with hot water. Leave about 1" gap at the top. Pour powder into the jug and shake. Use between 2 and 4 ounces of the premixed liquid depending on your machines directions. Every machine is a little bit different. (Note the suds you see in this process is the chemical reaction of dry chemical mixing with water. They will go away when the mixture cools and there will be no suds. And even if you feel them - they are not sticky soapy feeling.)
You can use the powder 1/2 to 1 mini scoop to a full load - but because there is so much less water we recommend you test this first. If you HE machine accepts powders this is the best no hassle way to go. Otherwise the above mixes and keeps for months. And both instances eliminate the need for fabric softener unless you just want to have it.
